Take a stroll around the Residenzplatz and you will never be far from some of the most cherished landmarks in Salzburg. The 12th-century Residence Palace is one such building and is filled with extravagance and history. Just a short walk to the south of the palace is the Salzburg Cathedral, which presides over the Domplatz and is dedicated to the city's founder, St. Rupert.
